Finepix Real3D technology and Frequently asked questions

3D Capture

For 3D capture, the Finepix Real3D W1 digital camera captures two images simultaneously using the specially located two lens/ccd configuration, being exactly 77mm apart. This recreates the spatial relationship between the left and right human eye, and allows for the special 3D capture effect. The result is a stunning image or video with depth and detail unlike any you've ever experienced from a single lens/ccd compact digital camera.

Video Mode

Not only does the Finepix Real3D system capture and playback still images in 3D, but it also can capture and play video as well! The W1 can capture video and store it to a unique type of 3D AVI file for almost instantaneous playback in the camera, or via the V1 Viewer and beyond!

Advanced 2D Mode

Advanced 2D mode allows even more flexibility and creativity from the Finepix Real3D W1 digital camera. In 2D mode, the camera can capture two simultaneous images, with a few different special settings. Capture a wide angle and zoomed image at the same time. Capture a high sensitivity (High ISO) and a low sensitivity (low ISO) shot simultaneously, or even capture two images in two different color modes at the same time. Advanced 2D mode adds a whole new perspective of creative photography into the W1’s capabilities.

3D Printing

Fujifilm has succeeded in the precision lamination of high-resolution prints with lenticular sheets that create the 3D effect. Advanced technology encodes and aligns the captured 3D image so that print and lenticular can align precisely. Then, the resulting image has several detailed components that the eye perceives at different depths. The result is a natural and beautiful 3D print that preserves and breathes life into the moment forever.

FAQ's

How does the Finepix Real 3D digital camera work?
The Finepix Real 3D W1 digital camera has two lenses and two CCD imagers that capture a scene much like your regular digital camera does, except, just like you have two eyes, the camera captures two scenes – one through each of the two lens/CCD configurations. So, instead of seeing a single two-dimensional flat image like a regular camera, the Finepix Real 3D W1 sees two images, from two different points of view, and when combined and viewed appropriately, displays a stunning depth only available from 3D content!
What do I need to be able to see the 3D images and videos?
The Finepix Real 3D W1 digital camera has a 2.8" 320 pixel 3D LCD screen on the back, so you can view your photos in 3D almost instantly in the camera. Other options are the Finepix Real 3D V1 Photo Viewer, Photo prints available through Fujifilm's SeeHere online printing service, and a number of other products that allow for viewing 3D source material

There several other ways to view and even edit your images on your PC as well.
Can I share my images with friends?
Yes you can, however, their ability to view the images in 3D will depend on them having some way such as the options described above, to view the images in 3D.
Is there a "trick" to taking good pictures in 3D?
No – there's no trick. Like any other artistic talent, good photography takes a little practice. 3D photography is no different. But, there are certain shots, perspectives, subjects and environments that lend themselves to a particularly stunning 3D image. When you are photographing with your Finepix Real 3D W1 digital camera, be aware of the space in front of, and behind, the subject. Make sure that you consider all of the objects, people, colors, detail, and interest in the shot before you take it. Sometimes, just a step to the left or right can make the difference between a good and a great 3D shot. But most importantly, experiment, practice, and have fun with it!
